A Mixed Experience at Casa Antigua: Potential Meets RealityNestled within the vibrant tapestry of Guatemala’s colonial architecture, Casa Antigua offers a quaint yet inconsistent lodging experience. My three-night stay, while marked by an attentive front desk staff, revealed significant gaps in overall comfort and cleanliness. Upon arrival, I transitioned through three rooms. The first was plagued by a musty odor suppressed by chemical sprays, prompting a move to a larger, airier space. Unfortunately, my stay ended in a similarly conditioned room, highlighting a troubling lack of attention to maintenance. Wi-Fi connectivity was disappointingly weak across all accommodations. Casa Antigua boasts a lovely garden area, and coffee and filtered water are readily available throughout the day—a thoughtful touch for budget-minded travelers. The property’s potential is undermined by noticeable neglect, particularly in bathrooms and communal areas. Ultimately, Casa Antigua offers a blend of cultural charm with promising amenities such as shuttle service and 24-hour reception.
